Private Instruction


Unlike group classes, private yoga sessions allow you to move at your pace and allow space for a dialogue about any questions that may arise during practice. Private sessions with Rachel are also completely personalized based upon your individual goals and requirements. 60, 75, or 90 minute sessions are available. Offerings include:

Building (better) body awareness

Body awareness is an intrinsic part of yoga. After all, the word "yoga" itself means "to yoke" which is another way of saying "to unite".

Functional movement + strength training

These yoga sessions are specifically focused on functional movement and strength training using one's own body weight as resistance.

Alignment-focused yoga

These sessions provide the opportunity to learn more about the postures and add another layer of understanding to our practice.

Breath work (Pranayama)

Learn how to channel your subtle energy (prana) to focus your mind and connect more deeply within.

Restorative yoga

Restorative yoga

Restorative yoga is designed to calm the nervous system by slowing down and opening your body through passive stretching.

Why private instruction?

Private instruction is beneficial for:

  • Anyone looking to start a yoga practice and learn the foundational postures and proper alignment. We will move at your pace, you'll receive specialized attention, and allow space for a dialogue about any questions that may arise during practice. This is in contrast to public classes where things may move too quickly often leaving new practitioners feeling overwhelmed.
  • Regular practitioners looking for more challenge in their practice, or is looking to cultivate their home practice so the individual can practice wherever they are.
  • Individuals with injuries or limited mobility.
  • Individualized attention for students who want to work on something specific. Also helpful for newer students who feel lost in group classes.

Looking for group yoga classes?

Rachel teaches weekly public classes at Bridges Rock Gym in El Cerrito on Thursdays 5:30-6:45pm, Fridays 12:00-1:00pm, and Saturdays 11:30am-1pm. All levels Vinyasa yoga. Drop in is $22.
